About This Site
This site is being hosted using an Nginx webserver software on a Debian GNU/Linux virtual machine. This is all running on Proxmox. I don’t have a super strong software preference (as long as it is Free Software) so these are fairly standard tools. Someday I want to migrate it to NixOS running Kubernetes but that is far in the future.
The site is designed using a static site generator called Hugo. Static site generators allow you to configure your site in a simple format, such as markdown in Hugo’s case. Then, you compile your site and it spits out HTML, CSS, and Javascript in a format which is ready to be deployed. This makes the site super fast and easy to manage because webpages are not being generated on the fly.

Hugo offers the option of themes. These are basically preconfigured settings for the website, so the hard work of getting the menu bar working or having the right text alignment is taken care of by the theme creator. I chose a theme called Blowfish because I think it looks elegant and has minimal Javascript. Yes, it has some, but the site still works fine if you disable Javascript.

This page is running on a mini PC which is colocated by EndOffice Colocation in the Boston, Massachusetts, USA area. They have unbeatable prices and accept Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT and USDC as well as traditional US Dollars. If your computer is small enough and has a 65 Watt or less power brick, then you will qualify for mini PC pricing, which is $24/month. Just remember that you are not paying enterprise-level pricing, so you will not get enterprise-level service (though they are still really down-to-Earth).
